NASCAR Comes to NAEIR!
The event would not have been possible without a call a few weeks before that was made by Sean Brown, FedEx Services Sales Executive and Area Development representative to Tim L. Randall, NAEIR’s Vice President of Distribution. Sean asked if we would be open to hosting the car at our location and after a quick call to Gary C. Smith, NAEIR‘s President & CEO, everything was set in motion.
In addition to Sean Brown, Bruce Silberstorf, Rock Valley District Sales Manager, FedEx Services was also in attendance at the event.
The event was punctuated by the occasional very loud revving of the car‘s powerful 865 hp engine, with NASCAR fans and newbies to NASCAR alike given the opportunity to take a close look at the car, the engine and the very uncomfortable looking interior. It‘s a wonder how professional drivers like Denny Hamlin manage considering the absence of air-conditioning and some of the other amenities most of us take for granted in our own vehicles.
John Winkler, a NAEIR employee regaled some of us with his considerable knowledge of NASCAR facts and figures. A few days before the event, Jeanine Ortery and Michelle Sharp both – impressed me as committed “fanatics” as well. With a fan base of over 75 million across the country, NASCAR has a phenomenal following.
A well informed Joe Gibbs Racing show car rep was their to answer questions, actively introducing himself and speaking to community members as well as a few NAEIR employees and family and friends that came by. Kids and adults alike had an opportunity to get right up alongside of the car and take plenty of photographs as well.
NAEIR is happy to have hosted the event and pleased that so many Galesburg community members were able to drop by. NAEIR is also proud of its relationship with FedEx which has partnered with the organization for several years now in ensuring that our members throughout the country receive their shipments in good condition and in a timely manner.
