Teen Round-Up is a non-profit organization in Duncan, Oklahoma that serves families in financial crisis and single parent homes. Teen Round-Up has been a NAEIR member for over a decade, and boy have they been putting all that stuff to good use!
Every year, Teen Round-up hosts a free three-day, two-night summer camp for 1,000 children ages 7-12. The camp includes seven home cooked meals, crafts, sports, challenging zip lines and more. In order to make every child feel special, they even throw a birthday celebration for every child on the last night of camp. Can you imagine all the smiles when a child receives a large gift bag filled with toys, educational supplies, clothing and novelty items? And it’s all provided through NAEIR! The party features a giant birthday cake and every child receives a Bible with their name imprinted in gold on the front cover.
But that’s not all! Teen Round-Up also puts on a ‘Christmas Surprize’ every December for over 200 children and single mothers. The event gives families facing financial crisis an opportunity to give their children a memorable night with dinner, gifts and a party atmosphere. Teen Round-Up visits NAEIR three to four times each year to pick up their massive orders of gifts for the children and necessary supplies to run the camp, such as plates, cups, crafts supplies, sports equipment, office supplies, building materials and more.
“Each time it is like Christmas for us to see all that we can get to bless those around us,” said Vice President and Director, Roxanne Kerley. “This year for Christmas Surprize our giant Christmas tree and camp activity building were decorated with 100% NAEIR ornaments, lights and decorations. We gave 260 children a giant gift bag filled with novelty items, clothing, educational items and toys.”
Roxanne said they even picked up a flake ice machine to use in their camp cafeteria during a Grab Bag visit. And, NAEIR has provided Teen Round-Up with building supplies such as windows, doors and wall board to help with building projects!
“The people in the warehouse are so friendly and help us get our trailer loaded for the long drive back to OK,” said Roxanne. “We even get discounts on our motel stays in Galesburg because of the good name of NAEIR.”
It’s pretty safe to say that Teen Round-Up is making the most of their NAEIR membership.
“We’re doing more for our community because of NAEIR. The small cost to be a member and allocation costs are just a token compared to what you will receive through the organization. We could not help the hundreds of families in need without NAEIR’s dedication to help organizations like ours reach out to those around us in need.”
